There was a time when I used to study from my notebooks more than any text. All that became a thing of the past when in college. Notebooks became more of a symbol of expression during the lectures (often monotonous). One habit that I caught up was writing down a quote on the first page and omit writing down my name. Due to the fact that I didn't have many notebooks during the four years and cuz I might have lost one or two, I could recover only 4 of them:

i wonder how it'll be like once i start working?????

and as i was mentioning to a few, i have loosened up a lot in these 3.5yrs.. and i'd really like to put in a lot of effort to be lazy for the next few months atleast... with God's grace i've been able to do anything i set myself on through dedicated work,... i wonder how much work i have to put in to be lazy, to not attend classes, to stop visiting the library, to start watching a lot-lot of movies, ah.. the list is endless....

Three weeks ago we were working on something without a body, without a mind, trying to make the future. Our minds and body were bent on making it work. The robots were made. The battle half won. Who cares about the rest half. Anyway that is past and back to future. I keep haing an obsession of jumping from past to future when the thing that matters most is the present. But present is just a moment while the past and future are immeasurable.

So back to past or the recent past to be exact. What's keeping me busy these days? Nothing. So what's the problem? nothing. No i din't mean there's no problem. Nothing is the problem. You laugh at it, you sleep over it, you wake up and look around at and still don't see. You realize that the nothingness or the lack of anything is nothing if you consider the something days in the past when you had everthing and wanted to have nothing. Those something days.. when you always had something or someone in mind, when pen was mightier than 12 hours of sleep, 8 hours of looking blankly at the computer screen and 4 hours of trying to count the hours in a day.

Since when have you been a workaholic? You'd pride yourself in being the lazy kid. But even while being lazy you'd always tried to keep the brain moving. If it doesn't move, you feel congested, feels like..dead. So wake up buddy. Wake up and see the world.

My life in multicoloured shoes

How many times in life have you lived a double life? Not many for me. I'd always been largely unaware of anything happening outside my sphere of friends. But right now I'm forced to live a multiple life through a learning curve with angle of elevation greater than 45 degrees.

The situation isn't hard to explain but might be hard to understand for someone else. First of all, I've always been this spoilt child type. Might be 'coz I'm the younger one, but I always had responsibilities thrown over to others. Chachan did majority of the outside work and Amma handled everything inside. Things are right on the balance when I'm left back here with apparently nothing to do. The only chore I was reminded to do was paying the phone bill. Rest would go on like clockwork. But into the first week, I'm starting to realize I'm mistaken.

Elders have a full blown social life. We, on the other hand usually contend ourselves with small talk. I, being the supposed information bug for the family, am entrusted the responsibility to gather information from social spheres like church, native place etc. Also, all info that's to be passed on to the respective spheres has to pass through me. More and more I find out that the things I've to do to keep myself alive is much easier than things I'm supposed to do. Among these, I've to split into another frame too - try belonging to hostel, where I know I wont be staying more than 2 months while hanging out with the usual gang outside the hostel.

I'm talkative among friends and pretty silent at other occasions. I'm hoping this experience would teach me something - to talk to people. As of now, it's truly a labyrinth... just some passion missing. ;-) If someone could provide it, the labyrinth of passion would be complete.

I'm still jobless.. Hurray!

We had the first taste of the famed CET Career Guidance and Placement Unit (CGPU) yesterday. Placements are slated to begin in July. The statistics showed only 3.7% didn't manage to get placed last year out of the qualified students registered in CGPU. That's something to cheer about, but one question lurked in mid air. How would I manage to get not placed? No, I didn't get the question wrong way round. Hopefully after reading the post you might understand why that question arise in mind, even if it was only for a moment.

There's a question that's being thrown around a lot these days - Are you ready for a job? After the question is asked rhetorically by someone, everyone goes silent at the same time. Though most of us recover fast, the feeling of uncertainty doesn't wane away. So what makes the question so potent? There seems to be many reasons.

First of all, though we say education is a continuous process, is it really true. I feel the knowledge gathering process grind to a halt after you enter a job. The second is freedom or at least the illusion of freedom. The freedom of movement, thought and expression will be curtailed. Another is the simple fact of higher responsibility.

Humans work an average 8 of the 16 hours we're awake. That adds up to about half of your life spend to survive in the other half. Was it like that always, or did industrial revolution blind us?

KyUn EXAMS Fail hUa..

After every university exam, I'd been fighting back my temptation to write a blog about it. Now I'm writing not 'coz my frustration crossed it's limit, but 'coz I'm finally able to accept that there is no use in fighting a battle that's not ours.

Firstly the maths exams was unexpectedly easy. There ended the 'Happy Days'. The buoyant faces around the campus didn't have a clue what the KU had in store for them in the coming days. I don't wanna relive the experience of the following exams, but those lead to a revelation.

What exactly is the KU trying to do proving all the odds wrong? Why are the questions so unpredictable, which might even be foolishly easy only if we'd studied it. But why didn't we study them? The answer is often simple-they are the most unimportant parts in the whole subject or as it happened in the last exam, we got a whole text wrong.

Little more about the last exam, and I'll continue along the previous line of thought later. Well, the teacher taught us something in a language we couldn't understand. The words written on board were hieroglyphics and to top it all, we were given a excellent book that's extremely hard to decipher. But something about the subject drove us hard into interpreting the whole book (special mention to divertido). Maybe it was the joy of learning, the joy of using our brains properly after a long time. The previous night we even sympathized our teacher with poor communication skills. One minute into the exam changed it all. People referring that exam paper next year would say "It was easy.". They'd never know what went through our mind on seeing questions that didn't even dare to touch the essence of the subject which drained the complete processing power of quad-core brains.

Back to the question of why KU is doing this, I've a possible plausible answer. They playing the lame game that a boy does to impress his girlfriend. Make unpredictable situations and conversations that tries to convince the foolish girlfriend to falsely believe that the boy is naturally great. This artificiality shines through every one of the question papers. That concerted effort to make exam papers that question not the intelligence of each student, but their foolishness. Every question seems to ask the same thing - how foolish of you to leave the simple things and study the hardest parts. KU has been so blinded by the feeling that unpredictable questions bring out the intelligence in someone. They do not realize that it's not unpredictability that checks a students intelligence. A question paper based on the application of what's taught in books, even if the application needs to be derived right then and there, is acceptable by me. I hope that at least in the future the KU realizes that only higher grade application based question papers improve the standard of the university.

Thought I'd sneak in with a blog on the final day of the year.

Years go by and we move ahead to a better tomorrow. It's time to think back on how the year had been, how much we've learned, how much unlearned. How many mistakes made and discover the fun of making mistakes. It's a year that taught us above all, the joy of being together, doing things we never dreamt we'd do. It's been a year of loss and so much gain. How much I wish KU had enough sense not to spoil our New year bash. KU's KU and there's no use blaming the system now.

Looking ahead to a new year is interesting too. There are so many resolutions to prove wrong. So many days you'd be left wondering is this life? and other days thinking this is life! This blog had been one of the best things happening in '07. It gave a reason to think, imagine and give words to imagination. Thanks to all the bloggers. Hope many more will jot down brain waves and open hearts next year. Wish you all a Happy and Prosperous New Year!
